In the early days of our Society, it was not unusual for members and their families to gather on a Sunday afternoon for a field trip. This could be a visit to a cemetery, old foundation, or just exploration in the woods. We are fortunate to have in our Archives not only photographs of these events, but also detailed descriptions. Many were authored by Eleanor (House) Smith, mother of our present Archivist, Patricia (Smith) Millar. They were hand-typed and became part of the newsletters, which were eventually distributed among all of the members.
