Volunteers in the Community

In Richmond, firefighting is not a job, but a passion.  Those who participate are family members, church members, friends, spouses, and children.  They come from all walks of life, and are varied in age, economics, education, and interests.   Their common bond, along with others who volunteer, is service to the community.

Some, like John R. Clark, member of the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire Deparment, make the ultimate sacrifice:

Herb Arnold, Carolina Volunteer Fire Deparment, also served the community as not only a member of the Richmond Town Council for 18 years, but also the Richmond Historical Society,  Boy Scouts, Washington County Fair, to name a few:
