In 1966 the Washington County Pomona Grange began what continues to be an annual country fair. In 1969 the Grange purchased land on Route 112 in the Carolina section of Richmond, which continues to be the home of the Washington County Fair. Every year in mid-August, not only farm animals, but also baked goods, vegetables, quilts, etc. are judged for the coveted blue ribbons. Local fire departments and other organizations offer a wide variety of food, along with a midway for games and rides, truck pulls, and of course live Country-Western entertainment.
