Railroads in the Valley

Train rail from Depot Square 002 Train rail from Depot Square 003

This section of train rail was unearthed in 1973 during the excavation for a new building for the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District (Station #1) at Depot Square on Main Street in Hope Valley.

The Wood River Branch Railroad ran from Hope Valley to the main track at Wood River Junction.  The line also serviced the Woodville Community.  Along with the rivers, the trains were important in the transportation of raw materials, manufactured goods, and people.

We thank Richmond resident William Day for the gift of this piece of Richmond history to our archives.
